Based on 2,112 reviewsLog House 1776 Restaurant is widely appreciated for its authentic traditional American cuisine, particularly its well-prepared steaks and unique 18th-century log cabin atmosphere. Guests often highlight the charming historical setting, complete with gardens and rustic decor, which enhances the overall dining experience. Service is consistently praised for being friendly and attentive, contributing to a welcoming environment. While some reviewers note the space could benefit from cleaning and reorganization, this does not detract significantly from the positive ambiance. The restaurant successfully balances offering both historical and contemporary dishes, making it a popular choice for locals and visitors seeking flavorful food paired with a distinctive, nostalgic experience.
My brother came from outta town and searched to find a good steak. He chose here. Fantastic place. Such a pleasant atmosphere. Phenomenal steaks and best bartender around. Good choice... thank yall
It was a unique experience, and I would go back again. The fried grits with pepper sauce was very good, and the steaks were very well prepared. They did not have our first choice, but we arrived late. The ambiance was different (1800s farm) and is probably ready for a real good cleaning and reorganization. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
I can't say enough about this location. My husband and I just finished eating here on our way home to Chattanooga. There are a few reviews that completely perplex me and need to be ignored. The $ is in line with other similar establishments. The service is exemplary from wait staff to host. The food was delicious. Yes, they are busy as any good establishment is but the wait was minimal. Neat garden and shop in the back. Don't hesitate to stop here, you won't be disappointed and if I didn't live 4.5hrs away I would be here every week!
Incredible 1700s log cabin now a restaurant. Offers some traditional 18th century food as well as current delicacies. Take a walk through the house and gardens abs step back in time!
A restaurant of this standing hardly needs my review, but I wanted to document the impression it made on me. As we know, dining is not just about the meal, but also the experience. From the lovely hostess, to the atrium and garden filled with diverse plant life as well as rabbits and doves, this restaurant immediately soothes your soul. Both famished from our long day of moving, we had no issue waiting to be sat as the restaurant pulled you in and held you close. It is truly one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever been to. Because of the way the restaurant is laid out, it never felt loud or crowded. More intimate and cozy. Our waitress was wonderful and brought out some fresh baked bread while we perused the menu, which seemed to be a melding of home-style cooking with new updated dishes. We started with an order of stuffed mushrooms that had a great flavor. Next, the salad that came with some delicious homemade ranch. Onto the main course, we split the larger ribeye, medium rare. The skillet came out scorching and it WILL burn you (I learned that the hard way). While I can appreciate, and prefer, to let the meat speak for itself, the steak did lack some crucial seasoning and was a bit overdone. This, and this alone, was the only reason I did not give it a complete 5 stars. After dinner, we made our way to the host stand to pay and found a delectable assortment of what appeared to be homemade desserts. We took home the cheesecake, and while we have not tried it yet, I have no reason to doubt it will be amazing. Overall, for our first night in Wytheville, I’m so incredibly delighted that we found this historic, yet timeless gem that brought us back to a simpler time. I know this will become a regular spot for us and I cannot wait to go back.
We stopped on our way home to New Jersey. This restaurant is a must. Beautiful atmosphere indoor and out. Loved watching the sunset in the garden. The bar is eccentric and homey. Our server Chadwick was attentive, helpful and cheerful making our experience the best. We loved everything! The clam chowder was the best we had and we travel alot. The salmon was amazing with the wasabi cream sauce. Chicken Verde Pecan was so different and yummy. The Olympian salad was olympic!! And the desserts were fabulous especially during our ride. We can't wait to stop in again.
A Hidden Gem Worth the Stop: The Log House Restaurant We stumbled upon the Log House Restaurant on a whim while passing through the area, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! My wife found it, and we decided to stop in for an early lunch. The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. When we arrived, we had the entire place to ourselves, but as time passed, more patrons started coming in, a testament to its popularity. The desserts were a standout! We couldn’t resist trying a couple, and they did not disappoint—each bite was delicious and indulgent. But what truly sets the Log House apart is the place itself. It's not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. The ambiance and historic charm are simply captivating. It’s hard to believe this remarkable building has survived the test of time, and it's worth a visit just to take in its unique character. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to stop by the Log House Restaurant. Great food, amazing desserts, and a one-of-a-kind setting—it’s a must-see (and taste)!
